To get started with this recipe, we must first prepare a few ingredients. You can have falafel and hummus using 15 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.
The ingredients needed to make Falafel and Hummus:
- Get 1cup Falafel-chickpeas
- Prepare 4-5 garlic with skin, cumin
- Take As needed Parsley +coriander leaves
- Make ready as per taste Salt
- Make ready 1tsp baking soda
- Prepare 1onion chopped,
- Get 1tbsp besan (gram flour) or (maize flour) can be added if it it doesn’t bind
- Take 1-2 deseeded green chili (it’s optional)
- Take Hummus-
- Prepare 1/2 cup boiled chickpeas. You can increase the quantity if you wish
- Take 1-2 Garlic without skin
- Get 1cup olive oil
- Take 1 tbsp sesame seeds - roasted you can add tahini sauce if you have, otherwise adding sesame seeds to it gives the same flavor
- Get as per taste Salt
- Prepare 1 Lemon juice

Steps to make Falafel and Hummus:
- For hummus soak the chickpeas, boil it, cool it, and grind it a mixie with all the ingredients mentioned above. Note- don’t add water, if it is difficult to grind. Add olive oil and then grind. Make it into a fine smooth paste.
- Falafel- soak the chickpeas, drain it and grind it with all the ingredients mentioned above. In a chopper you can do. It’s should be coarse. Keep it for 1hrs.
- Make balls out of it, if not binding add besan to it or maize flour.
- Heat oil and fry it till golden brown. You can also fry it in air fryer. Preheat the air fryer at 180, keep it for 7mins.
- Your falafel is ready.
- The light colored falafel is air fried, while the dark colored is fried in oil.
In this recipe, we used Kalamata olives but feel free to experiment with your favorite. Falafel is usually served in a warm pita, or on a plate, with your preferred condiments. Serve with your choice of accompaniments, such as hummus, tahini, Israeli salad and pickles.
