In India we boil or cook most of the legumes in in pressure cooker. To make Kala Chana curry prepare bhuna masala with onion, tomatoes, ginger and garlic (optional). Add pressure cooked black chana or kadalai. Add the masala paste and required quantity of water.
Steps to make Black chana curry (masala curry):
- In a pan fry coconut grated, curry leaves, shallots
- After coconut has turned slightly brown in colour add cinnamon, pepper/pepper powder. Switch off the flame and add coriander, turmeric, chilli powder.
- Grind this after cooling. In the same pan add onion, ginger, garlic. Sautet until onions are transparent.
- Add tomatoes till they are soft. To this add ground coconut paste with 1 cup water. Add chana and cook until it becomes semi gravy.
- Serve this with tempering of curry leaves,mustard seed,dry chilli.
