  2. Heat olive oil, add onion and cook, stirring, until it just begins to brown, 2 to 4 minutes. Add garlic and cook, stirring, for 1 more minute. Stir in green chilis, ginger, tomato juice, and allspice. Adjust the heat so the mixture boils gently; cook for 10 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, blend half of the sweet potato chunks, the peanut butter, and the vegetable broth in a food processor, or use a hand blender to puree those ingredients together.
  4. Add the rest of the sweet potato chunks to the pot, cook another minute, and then add the puree mixture.
  5. Let it gently simmer another few minutes so all the flavors blend together. If desired, I like to chop up some peanuts and/or cilantro to top it off!

Meanwhile, peel the sweet potatoes and chop into bite-size pieces. Put the other half in a food processor or blender along with broth and peanut butter. Transfer the purée to the pot and stir to well combined. Thin the bisque with water, if desired.
